Dr. Ali Samet Öngen is a faculty member in the Department of Geological Engineering at Dumlupınar University, where he has been serving since 2013 and currently holds the position of Assistant Professor (Dr. Öğr. Üyesi). His research expertise focuses on renewable energy applications in the subsurface, particularly shallow geothermal energy, Ground Source Heat Pump (GSHP) and Groundwater Heat Pump (GWHP) systems. His work integrates hydrogeology, engineering geology, and GIS-based suitability analysis to assess urban and regional geothermal potential. He has contributed to and coordinated several national and international research projects addressing sustainable energy use, climate-resilient infrastructure, and applied geothermal solutions, with a strong emphasis on education, capacity building, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
