About the
READ Project
READ – Renewable Energy Advancement for Inclusive Development in Sub-Saharan Africa – is a 36-month Erasmus+ CBHE project that strengthens higher education systems to respond to Africa’s energy and climate challenges. The project modernises renewable energy education, builds institutional capacity, and fosters collaboration between universities, industry, policymakers, and communities.
We envision African universities as hubs of excellence in renewable energy – places where students learn cutting-edge skills, researchers generate relevant evidence, and partnerships drive clean, inclusive growth.
Our mission is to transform how renewable energy is taught, researched, and applied in partner countries by:
- Aligning curricula with real-world energy needs
- Building the capacity of lecturers and researchers
- Supporting innovation and entrepreneurship
- Strengthening ties between academia, industry, and government
